Got bit by a door interlock on a 20 year old Otis in Chicago

Was troubleshooting a car that kept stopping between floors. Checked everything, spent about 4 hours chasing ghosts. Turned out one of the door interlock rollers had worn down to half its size and wasn't making contact in cold weather. Anyone else run into weird intermittent failures that only show up below freezing?

Had a similar issue once where a sensor on an old Schindler only acted up in humid weather?

Yeah, "worn down to half its size" is a good way to put it. Those rollers can get pretty beat up over time. Cold weather making it worse makes sense since the plastic gets harder and doesn't flex as much to make contact.
