Finally got the new guy to stop cranking the governor rope tension past the spec on those old Dover units.
He kept saying 'tighter is safer' until I showed him the manual where it says too much tension can wear out the sheave in under a year, and now he checks it with a gauge every time.

Read somewhere that he thought it was just a fancy clock for the longest time.

Wait, isn't it way more likely he just didn't care that much in the first place? If he really saw it as a fancy clock, @charles_kim that means the whole story is probably overblown to make it sound funnier. People love to dress up their bandmates as clueless, but the guy's a musician too, not a complete dummy.
