Elevator door lock let go on the 4th floor last Wednesday

I was doing a routine maintenance check on an old Otis in a building downtown. The door lock contact arced out and welded itself shut. Had to manually jump the safety circuit to get the car moving again so the super wouldn't lose his mind. Has anyone else had those old roller guides suddenly bind up right after a lube interval?

The door lock contact arced out and welded itself shut" yep that'll do it. I've seen that same thing happen on those old Otis locks when the humidity spikes. Your mileage may vary but I'd check the gap on the roller guides again sometimes they're just finicky after a fresh lube.

Oh man those old Otis roller guides are the worst after a lube job, bind up every single time for me too.
