Showerthought: I just read that over 50% of e-waste board failures are from bad caps, not chips

Found that in a trade journal survey from last quarter. Makes me wonder if we're all focusing too much on sourcing ICs when we should just bulk order quality capacitors first.

Man, that hits close to home. I just spent a whole weekend trying to fix an old amp, swapping out chips and checking traces. Turns out it was a single bulging capacitor the whole time, a cheap little thing I could have replaced in two minutes. Felt like a real genius after that one.

Bad caps fail faster sure, but chips die too when you least expect it...

Capacitors are the real weak link, not the fancy chips.
