PSA: Heard a guy at the parts counter say he never checks for swollen caps on newer boards

He was talking about a recent repair and said 'if it's from the last five years, it's not the caps.' I've seen three bad ones in the last month alone on modern gear. Anyone else still finding this a common fix?

My 2020 laptop had two bad caps last week.

I mean, that's pretty early for caps to go bad on a 2020 machine, @karenf40. Maybe it was a bad batch or got too hot a lot. Just unlucky, I guess.

Guess the 2020 models came with an extra helping of bad luck. My friend's machine from that year just gave up the ghost too. Starting to feel like they built those things with a timer set to "random Tuesday". Maybe the factory was having a real off year.
