A customer's old VCR in Tacoma almost got me with a hidden spring

I was cleaning the heads when a tiny tension spring shot out from under the loading mechanism and vanished into my shop carpet. Has anyone found a good way to track down those little black metal parts on a dark floor?

Got a strong flashlight? Lay it flat on the floor and scan around, those little guys cast a huge shadow.
