TIL running a jumper wire between smoke detectors saves hours of tracing
I spent 3 hours last Tuesday trying to figure out why the upstairs smoke detector kept chirping, turned out the old wiring was just too long and a simple 6 inch jumper fixed it, has anyone else found a weird fix like that for something simple?

Nest thermostats have the same jumper trick in their wiring bases.

@drew_grant52 Definitely seen that nest hack before at my buddy's house, his thermostat refused to get power until we basically wired around it. Weirdest fix I ever did was sticking a paperclip into a furnace pressure switch plug because the clip snapped off inside. Ran fine for like two more years after that.
