Old timer taught me to strip wire with my teeth on a job in Phoenix

Working a 110 degree attic in Phoenix last summer and this 60 year old guy just bit the jacket off a 12 gauge and it was perfect. He looked at me and said "if your teeth can't do it, your dykes won't either." Anyone else have a weird trick a journeyman passed down?

Saw a YouTube video a few years back where some old electrician said the same thing, called it "the penny trick" cause you can also use a penny and your teeth to score the jacket. Tried it on some scrap Romex once and it actually works if you get the angle right, but I still stick to my Knipex strippers for safety reasons. There's a reason the pros keep doing it though, saves time when you're in a tight spot and don't have your tools handy.
