Just realized I was wrong about using aluminum for service drops

Last month on a job in Spokane, my boss made me run aluminum for a 200 amp service drop. I thought it was just cheap and would cause issues. But after seeing the specs and how it handled the load, plus saving the homeowner about $400 on materials, I get it now. Anyone else switch to aluminum for certain jobs after being against it?

I was totally against it too until a job last year proved me wrong.

Funny how that works. It's easy to have a strong opinion until you see something work with your own eyes. I see it all the time with new tech or even just different ways of doing things at the office. People dig in their heels, then one good result changes their whole view.

Oh man, same here. I was sure copper was the only way to go for a long time. A few jobs back made me see how good aluminum can be when it's done right.
