Finally finished patching the drywall in the basement after 6 weeks of putting it off

The patch job from that leak last winter was sitting there looking ugly since February, but last Saturday I got the mud sanded down smooth in one go and now it's actually ready for primer, has anyone else dealt with dried-out joint compound ruining their first coat?

Big deal" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there honestly.
