Talked to a retired cabbie at the garage yesterday...
Had a guy in his 70s drop off his old Ford for a tune up and we got to chatting about downtown Edmonton traffic. He said when he started driving in the 70s, Jasper Ave had half the cars and twice the character. Made me wonder how much the city has changed just since I moved here 10 years ago... Anyone else talk to old timers who make you see this place different?

Always ask them about the back alleys, that's where the REAL stories are.

Hold up, back alleys? Man, I never even thought about that. I've walked down a few sketchy ones downtown but never gave em a second thought. Now my mind's running wild with what kind of stuff went down there in the old days. Bet the old timers have seen some wild crap that'd make your hair stand on end. Makes me wanna go ask every retired driver I see what they remember about those alleys. Seriously changes how I look at the whole city now.
