I was 100% sure those weather apps were lying to me until last Tuesday

I've been in Edmonton for 12 years and always thought the 'feels like' temp on my phone was just made up. Then last Tuesday it said -38 with the wind chill and I decided to test it. I put a glass of water on my back porch and it froze solid in under 10 minutes. The app called for a high of -28 but it never got above -22 all day. I even checked the airport data online and it matched perfectly. Now I actually dress for what the app says and my morning walks aren't miserable anymore. Anyone else have a moment where they finally trusted the forecast and it paid off?

Honestly, I had the exact same moment but with a much dumber test. I was like, "No way it's actually that cold," so I stuck my tongue to a metal pole in the park. Spoiler alert: it stuck. I had to stand there for a good ten minutes pouring my coffee on it to get free, looking like a complete idiot. So yeah, I totally feel you on the water glass test being way smarter than whatever genius move I pulled. Now I just trust the app and save myself the embarrassment, plus the skin on my tongue.

Yo, that's brutal... sticking your tongue to frozen metal is a whole different level of commitment. I would've panicked and just stood there crying instead of thinking to use coffee. At least your tongue survived to tell the tale, which is more than most people can say after a brain freeze moment like that.
