I think the Anthony Henday is way better than the Yellowhead for getting across town

Took the Yellowhead from 149 St to the Sherwood Park Freeway last Tuesday and hit five red lights in under 10 minutes. The Henday might be longer in distance but I'll take steady 100 km/h over stopping every 500 meters any day.

Did you take the Yellowhead during actual rush hour or off-peak? Because I find that makes a bigger difference than which road you're on. The Henday clogs up pretty bad around 4pm too, especially between Whyte and the east end.

Oh man, you're not wrong about the red lights on the Yellowhead, it's like they're timed to catch you at every single one. But here's the thing nobody's bringing up: the Henday has way more exits and entrances, so you've got people merging and weaving constantly. On the Yellowhead, once you're past the big intersections like 149 St and 101 St, it's mostly just straight and steady with less lane changes. I'd take a few red lights over getting sideswiped by someone cutting across three lanes to catch their exit at the last second. The Henday feels like a race track sometimes, and not in a good way. Have you ever had a close call on the Henday with merge traffic?
