Finally found a decent taco spot in the south side after 8 fails
Stopped at that new place on 34th Ave near the old Canadian Tire lot and their al pastor actually had the pineapple cooked right instead of just sitting on top.

And the pineapple thing is key, right? So many spots just toss a few chunks on top and call it al pastor, but it doesn't soak into the meat that way. You gotta have it layered in while it cooks so the juices mix together. I bet that place is doing it on a vertical spit too, which is the only real way to get that crispy edge. I'm gonna have to swing by there this weekend now, you got me craving it.

Last time I tried making al pastor at home I ended up with pineapple juice all over my kitchen ceiling. Had the meat stacked wrong on my little rotisserie attachment and it flew off. My dog loved the floor scraps though. Been scared to attempt it again since.
