Appreciation post: Someone in the chat mentioned the old City Centre airport
I looked up some photos and had no idea it was right downtown. Anyone know when they finally closed it?

It's wild how many cities paved over their old downtown airports for condos.

That land grab also erased some amazing local music scenes. Those old hangars and terminals were perfect for cheap, weird venues that got pushed out. We traded cultural spaces for luxury boxes.

Amazing local music scenes" is a bit much. They were mostly just drafty rooms with bad sound. The new development actually has public parks and shops people use.
