Stopped washing my mason jars before storing them, game changer
For like two years I'd rinse out every spaghetti sauce jar and let it dry on the rack before putting it in the cabinet... then a friend saw me doing it and asked why I was wasting the time. Apparently if you're gonna use them for dry goods like beans or screws, a quick wipe with a dry cloth is enough, the leftover moisture just causes mold later anyway. I kept thinking I was being smart about hygiene, but really I was just adding extra steps to a simple upcycle. Has anyone else been overcomplicating their jar prep without realizing it?

My garage shelf has 14 pickle jars holding different screws and nuts, and I spent a solid hour last month scrubbing every single one with hot soapy water and letting them air dry. Now I feel like I wasted all that effort for nothing. The dry cloth trick makes so much sense because the jars were clean anyway after the dishwasher, the real issue is just lingering moisture trapping smells or causing that funky mold ring at the bottom. Plus, who has time to balance wet jars on the counter for a whole day? I'm definitely skipping the rinse step from now on, and my beans will probably thank me for not giving them a damp home. Do you rinse the lids too or just leave them as is?
