Overheard a girl at goodwill say she uses old t-shirts to make rags, finally clicked for me
I used to think buying a pack of microfiber cloths was the only way to go, you know, for cleaning houses. But last Tuesday I was at the goodwill in my neighborhood and heard this college girl telling her friend she just cuts up old t-shirts for dusting and mopping. I thought about it for a second and realized I have like 20 ratty tees sitting in my basement that never get worn. So I tried it on my own windows and it worked way better than paper towels, plus it is totally free. Has anyone else found a good way to prep them so they dont leave lint everywhere?

Started cutting up old flannel shirts and found they work GREAT for dusting, way less lint than cotton tees. Someone online mentioned boiling new cuts in vinegar water first to get rid of loose fibers, tried it and it actually helped a ton. Just make sure you trim off any thick seams or tags so they don't scratch your surfaces.

Heard some folks swear by washing new cuts a couple times with fabric softener to knock the lint down. Boiling in vinegar water before that sounds smart too.
