My cereal box drawer organizer lasted exactly 6 days before falling apart

I cut up a bunch of Cheerios boxes 2 weeks ago to make dividers for my junk drawer, and by day 6 the cardboard had folded in on itself and everything was a mess again. I even reinforced the edges with hot glue, but the humidity in my kitchen in Austin just made them sag. Has anyone actually gotten the cardboard box hack to work long term, or should I just buy plastic bins and stop pretending?

Wait, did you laminate yours with anything or just use the raw cardboard? I used to swear by the cardboard method, thought I was being clever and saving money, but my experience matches yours exactly. I tried it with granola bar boxes and even doubled them up with duct tape, but in my bathroom they just turned into soggy mush within a week. Honestly, seeing how fast they collapsed even with hot glue makes me realize I was just lying to myself about the whole thing. I finally caved and bought a cheap plastic set, and it's been holding up for months now, so yeah, the bargain hack is probably not worth the repeat frustration. You might get a little more life out of fancier packaging, but it's a gamble.
