I finally found a use for my cracked cutting board, but it wasn't the usual trick

My old bamboo cutting board split down the middle last month after 9 years of daily use, so I cut it into 3 pieces with a handsaw instead of tossing it. I turned the largest chunk into a plant stand for my aloe and the two smaller bits into drawer dividers for my toolbox. Has anyone else broken a board and repurposed the pieces, or do most folks just glue them back together and hope for the best?

Give the drawer dividers some thought after a few weeks. Are they actually holding up, or do they slide around every time you grab a wrench? I tried something similar with an old crate once and ended up wedging the pieces in there with rubber bands because they never stayed put. What did you do to keep them snug in the toolbox?
