Visited a friend's house in Omaha and noticed they line their slow cooker with foil for cleanup

She showed me how she just lifts the foil out after cooking pot roast and barely has to scrub the insert, has anyone else tried that trick or does it mess with cooking times?

WAIT, what? FOIL in a slow cooker? That honestly sounds like a disaster waiting to happen to me. Doesn't the foil risk ripping or leeching into the food when you're cooking something heavy like a pot roast for hours at high temps? I just cannot wrap my head around trusting a thin sheet of aluminum foil to hold all that liquid and meat without some kind of tear. I scrub my slow cooker insert with a silicone brush and some soap, it takes like two minutes max. Why would anyone risk the mess or the potential metal taste for that tiny bit of extra convenience? Seems like a shortcut that could backfire in a messy way. No way I'm trying that trick.

Screaming at @markl75's comment, wait you actually use aluminum foil inside a slow cooker?
