Tried putting raw chicken breasts in the slow cooker with no liquid. Big mistake.

I was running late for work last Tuesday and just threw four frozen chicken breasts in the crockpot with some seasoning and no broth or water. Came home 8 hours later and they were basically dry and stringy on the outside but still a bit cold in the middle. Never doing that again. Does anyone else always add at least a cup of liquid even if the recipe doesn't say to?

You ever try to do that thing where you put frozen meat in a slow cooker and just hope for the best? It's a gamble, man. I learned that lesson the hard way with a pork roast a few years back. Came home to this weird situation where the outside was basically jerky but the middle was still a little chilly. Now I'm the person who adds an extra half cup of broth even if the recipe says "no liquid needed," just to be safe. And I always thaw things out first now, like a whole day in the fridge. It takes planning, but your stomach will forgive you.

Life's basically one big lesson you have to learn the hard way first.
