My slow cooker lid cracked in half during a big chili cook
It happened on Sunday when I was making a double batch for a family thing. I went to check on it and the handle just snapped off, sending the glass part into the pot. I had to move everything to a big pot on the stove to finish. Has anyone else had this happen, and what's a good brand for a replacement that won't break?

Man, that's the worst... glass in the chili is a total loss. Did you at least save the food after switching pots? My old one did something similar, but it just got a hairline crack and started leaking steam all over the counter. It made such a mess. I ended up getting one with a metal lid instead of glass, which feels a lot less likely to just give out like that.

My buddy's lid straight up exploded while he was making pulled pork. It just went from a small crack to a million pieces in the pot. He switched to a brand with a stainless steel lid and hasn't looked back since.

That whole glass lid thing is just bad design honestly, like how many other everyday items do we trust that are secretly ticking time bombs? It's the same reason I switched to metal water bottles after a glass one shattered in my gym bag - glass and heat/cool cycles just don't mix well long term. Once you start noticing how much stuff relies on glass that shouldn't, it's hard to unsee it.
