My mother-in-law insisted I didn't need to add liquid to a slow cooker roast

She swore the meat released enough juice on its own, so I followed her advice last Sunday and ended up with a dry, burnt hunk of beef that stuck to the sides like glue, has anyone else had a family recipe tip backfire that badly?

Poured in a half cup of broth halfway through and it came out perfect.

That little trick with the broth makes such a big difference. I tried it last weekend with a pot roast and the meat was so tender it just fell apart. The broth soaked into everything and kept it from drying out. Really glad to hear yours turned out perfect, it's such a good feeling when a meal comes together like that.
