My first attempt at pulled pork turned out perfect at a party last weekend
I was super nervous about making pulled pork for my sister's backyard BBQ on Saturday with like 20 people there. I used a 4 pound pork shoulder from Aldi and just dumped in some root beer and a cheap packet of seasoning. It cooked on low for 10 hours and shredded like butter, everyone kept asking me for the recipe lol. Has anyone else found a weird ingredient that makes meat super tender in the slow cooker?

Oh man, what kind of soda did you use for yours? I tried something similar once with a can of cola and it turned out way better than I expected. For me, the weirdest thing that works every time is a splash of apple cider vinegar. It sounds gross but it cuts through the fat and makes the meat fall apart like nothing else. Also, don't skip the searing step before you dump it in the slow cooker. Just a few minutes on each side in a hot pan, you get this crust that holds the flavor in. Root beer and a packet is a solid short cut though, I bet it tasted killer.
