That thrift store near the old mall in Akron changed how I pick sci-fi

Walked in there last Saturday. Saw a dusty copy of “The Integral Trees” by Niven. Cover was ripped. Smelled like basement. Picked it up anyway. Best 50 cents I ever spent. Now I grab anything that looks beat up. Has anyone else found a gem just because the cover looked trashed?
