PSA: That 1980s repair manual saved me $300 on a fridge fix
An old guy at the library sale told me I was throwing away money on service calls when I could learn from vintage repair manuals. I grabbed a 1984 GE fridge manual for 50 cents and followed the steps to replace a $12 start relay myself last weekend. Has anyone else found an old manual that actually paid for itself ten times over?

Ha! So that dusty old book was worth more than the 50 cents they charged you for it. I bet the guy at the library sale felt like a wizard watching you walk away with the secret to fixing your own stuff. Nice work sticking it to the $300 service call guy, that's gotta feel good.
