That $3 library discard cookbook from 1954 almost burned down my kitchen last night
Spent $3 on this old 'Casseroles for Every Day' book at a library sale and the recipe for 'Marshmallow Surprise' told me to bake it at 450 without mentioning the pan was suppose to be glass. Now I got a cracked dish and smoke smell everywhere, anyone else find dangerous old cooking tips in vintage books?

Flip through that whole book before cooking anything. Those old recipes assume you already know things like "don't put glass in a 450 degree oven" or "that weird ingredient might be toxic now." Bet there's at least two more recipes in there that will try to kill you.

Dylan's got a good point there. You really don't want to mess with that old book without checking every page first.
