That $8 thrift store cookbook from 1972 had a recipe that actually ruined my dinner last night

Oh man, same thing happened to me with a 1980s church cookbook. There was this "quick casserole" that called for a can of cream of mushroom soup and a can of tuna, but I swear the measurements were completely off. The texture was awful and it tasted like salty glue. I ended up throwing the whole thing out and ordering pizza. Makes you wonder how many dinners those old cookbooks actually ruined back in the day.

Dating those old community cookbooks is always a gamble with the measurements. A good trick I learned the hard way is to check the baking temperature first, if it's 350 or 325 it's usually safe, but anything higher or lower and you're in for a bad time. That cream of mushroom soup era was rough for sure.
