My library sale find of 'The Desert of the Heart' changed how I read older novels
I picked up this 1964 paperback for 50 cents at a library sale in Austin. A friend told me I was judging old books by their covers too fast, and she was right. After reading it, I realized I had been skipping slower burn stories for years. Now I actually read the first 30 pages before deciding if a book is worth my time. Has anyone else had an old book surprise them like that?
