I lost $40 on a 1970s self help book that was pure nonsense

At a library sale in Portland last spring, I grabbed this beat up copy of "The Power of Positive Thinking for Business" from 1972. Thought it would be some hidden gem, but it was just a guy rambling about visualizing dollar bills for 200 pages. I could have bought a new paperback for that money. Anybody else get burned by an old self help book that promised way more than it delivered?

Used to swear by those old books but you just changed my mind completely.

But I've got to say, a few of those old self help books actually have some real gems buried in the fluff if you can look past the dated parts. The visualization stuff sounds silly, but I've caught myself accidentally planning better just by picturing what I wanted to get done first. Maybe it's less about the specific method and more about just getting yourself to actually stop and think for a minute.
