Took me 4 hours to fix a corner bead that I could have done in 20 minutes

Spent all afternoon fighting a bowed corner bead on a ceiling soffit in a remodel yesterday before I realized the metal stud behind it was just slightly twisted. Anyone else ever waste a whole day on one dumb thing like that?

Devil's advocate here: that wasn't wasted time, that was a lesson you just paid for. Every pro I know has a scrap pile of dumb mistakes that taught them more than any YouTube video ever could. Bowed studs are uncommon but now you'll check every single one before slapping on the mud. That four hour headache is cheap tuition for the fifteen minute check you'll do next time. The real waste would be if you didn't learn something from it.

You're right but also wrong. Four hours is a LOT of tuition for ONE bowed stud. A level and a straightedge is a five dollar lesson. I get the whole "every mistake is a lesson" thing but some lessons are just EXPENSIVE for no good reason. Pros learn from mistakes but they also learn from better prep. That check should have happened BEFORE the mud went on, not after.
