Spent 45 minutes fighting a single screw pop that kept coming back

Had a patch on a ceiling in a 1980s ranch house that I just couldn't get to stop dimpling around the screw head after taping. Turns out I was driving the screw too deep and crushing the paper face, which took me three different foreman calls to figure out. How long have you guys spent chasing one tiny defect on an otherwise clean job?

dude that's brutal, 45 minutes is rough. I spent a whole afternoon once on a single popped nail in some new drywall, it kept coming back no matter what I did. Turns out the stud was warped and the board wasn't flush, so I had to shim it and start over (which of course I only figured out after calling my buddy who's been doing this for 20 years).

and yeah @evan_harris14 that's the kind of thing that makes you wanna throw your tools across the room. I had a similar thing with a door frame once where the nail pops kept coming back even after I sunk them deeper and used spackle. Turns out the whole frame was twisting from moisture and I had to cut out the bad section and sister in a new piece of wood. Three days of agony over what should've been a 2 hour job. DIY always teaches you the hard way.
