Spent $120 on a stillson wrench that still cant grip wet paper
Picked up a fancy new stillson from the big box store last week cause my old one finally gave out. Took it to a job in Brookhaven yesterday and that thing slipped off every pipe fitting I touched. The teeth just wouldnt bite into the steel at all. Anyone else run into wrenches that are basically useless right out of the package?

That "still cant grip wet paper" line hit home for me. I took a brand new one back and swapped it for an older used model from the clearance rack and that thing grabbed way better.

Read a review where a guy tested 20+ climbing shoes in a warehouse. New ones had a glossy finish that just slides off holds. He sanded the rubber on one pair with 80 grit and it turned into a totally different shoe. Makes you wonder if factories are just pumping them out too fast now. The older ones had a rougher texture right out of the box.
