Snapped my taping knife mid-finish on a ceiling seam yesterday
Was about 3 feet into a long ceiling seam at a house in Oak Park when the handle just cracked clean off. Old 6 inch knife I'd been using for like 5 years, never thought it'd give out like that. Had to borrow a buddy's knife from his truck to finish the run, but the mud was already starting to crust up on me. Anyone else had a tool break at the worst possible time?

5 years is a solid run for a taping knife honestly. I snapped my 8 inch Goldblatt right at the start of a long hall once, had to scrape the whole seam and start over. What worked for me after that was keeping a spare in my car at all times, even if it's a cheap one from Home Depot. Also learned to check the handle for hairline cracks before a big job, saved me from that hassle again. The mud crust situation is the worst though, feel your pain on that one.
