Question about that new lightweight joint compound from ProForm

I used the new ProForm Lite Blue on a ceiling patch in my own house six months ago. Just last week, I noticed a hairline crack running right along the tape line that wasn't there before. I think it dried out too fast in our dry winter air, even though I followed the bag directions. Has anyone else had this happen with the lightweight stuff on a repair?

Lightweight mud can be tricky for patches because it shrinks more. Try a second tight coat over the tape next time to build it up slower. That usually stops the hairline cracks from forming.

Wait, you only did one coat over the tape? I mean, I'm shocked that held up at all. That lightweight stuff shrinks like crazy, it's basically its whole thing. You gotta put a tight second coat on there to lock it down, otherwise it just pulls itself apart. I learned that the hard way on a closet patch last year. It's not like the old stuff, you can't treat it the same.
