Question about a weird patch job I had to do in an old theater
Had to fix a huge hole in a curved ceiling from a fallen light fixture, and the choice was either trying to bend a new piece of drywall with a ton of water and hope it held, or building it up with about 20 layers of mud and a prayer. I went with the mud, and it took three full days of sanding, but it looks smooth now. Anyone ever try something that crazy on a curve?

Always thought bending drywall was the only way... but your mud method sounds like it actually worked. Might have to try that next time.

Ever see someone try to bend drywall and just snap it in half? My buddy did that on a curved wall project and was so mad. He ended up scoring the back and using joint compound like you said, and it actually held the shape while it dried. He said it was way less stressful than fighting with a full sheet. Sometimes the old school way isn't the only school.
