PSA: That "level 5" finish promise might cost you your next job
Last month I took a job finishing a new build in Arlington, a fancy house where the builder wanted a level 5 finish on all the ceilings. I figured I could do it, no problem, just extra skim coats and sanding. Three days in, the homeowner walks through and points out every tiny ridge under a flashlight, saying it wasn't smooth enough. I ended up spending another 4 days fixing stuff I thought was fine, and the builder docked me $800 off the bid. Has anyone else had a customer demand museum grade flatness and then refuse to pay for the extra time?

Man that's rough, reminds me of the time a client made me repaint a whole room because they saw a single hair in the clear coat.
