Did you catch that article in Fine Homebuilding about the old school plasterers who refuse to use anything but lime putty? It was eye opening how much we've traded tradition for speed. That exchange must have been intense. What was the main thing he said that got you thinking?

Honestly @harris.vera I thought that article was a bit overblown. Yeah, lime putty has its place, but acting like modern materials are some big betrayal of tradition feels dramatic. Plenty of old houses are still standing because of good craft no matter what they used. That guy acting like we've lost something important just sounded like a gatekeeper to me. Sometimes tradition just means slower and more expensive for no real gain. Life goes on either way.
