Found a hack for mudding inside corners that saved my back

I got tired of leaning over to tape inside corners and getting mud everywhere. So I tried a 6 inch taping knife with a rounded corner tip that I filed down myself. It let me get a smoother finish without the extra passes. Anyone else mess with their tools like this or am I just cheap?

Ha! Love it. Gotta say I've definitely whittled down a putty knife or two in my day. It's not being cheap, it's being smart and saving your lower back from all that hunching. Filing down the tip is a solid hack for those super tight spots where mud likes to pile up. Honestly half the tools I buy end up getting some kind of custom job before they even touch a wall. Just don't tell my wife I'm out in the garage filing down my taping knives again.

You ever spend 20 minutes customizing a tool and then realize you just spent more time than you would've saved? lol Been there with a drywall knife I filed down so much it basically became a butter knife. My wife caught me once and asked if I was "trying to build a museum exhibit of ruined tools." She's not wrong. I've got a collection of half-finished projects in the garage that look like I was trying to reinvent the wheel. It's a sickness but at least my corners are smooth, right?
