Used to think sediment buildup didn't matter much, but saw a 6-month difference on the Mississippi last week
I always figured you could just run the cutterhead harder to push through settled material. Then I compared side scan images from March and September on a stretch near Baton Rouge and the difference in bottom elevation was almost 4 feet in some spots. Has anyone else seen that kind of shift in a single season?

Came across a dock in Duluth that gained 6 inches of silt in just two months one summer.

lol that's actually pretty normal though if the river's running high that summer. Sediment happens, it's not like the dock's getting buried alive or anything.
