Tried running a booster pump off a different generator setup last week
Honestly, I've always wrestled with thick slurry on long runs where the main pump just loses pressure. Last week on a job near Baton Rouge, I hooked up a smaller portable generator to a separate booster pump inline about halfway down the discharge line. It pushed the flow back up by almost 30% without burning out the main pump. Has anyone else tried splitting the load like that or is there a reason we don't do this more often?

Did you have any issues with the generator syncing to the pump's power draw?

The 5500 watt model I got had a rough first 30 seconds with my 1.5hp pump, I gotta admit. Used to think this whole sizing thing was overblown, you know? But @nancyd85, that startup surge is no joke. It finally synced up after the third try, and now it runs fine, but I get why people oversize these things. That inrush current really does mess with the voltage until the generator adjusts, which took longer than I expected.
