The old dredge I used to run on the Mississippi back in 2017

Tbh I still think about that 12-inch Ellicott I ran near St. Louis back then. Last month I hopped on a newer model with all the digital controls and it just didnt feel the same. That old machine had a 6-71 Detroit that would shake your bones but it never quit on me. Anyone else miss the simplicity of those older rigs?

Right there with you on the analog gauges @william320. Had a 10-inch that was all levers and dials, if something went wrong you could see it and feel it before it broke. That digital stuff makes you complacent.

Used to be all about the touchscreens and GPS mapping, figured it was just progress. Took a job on an old 8-inch for a week last summer and those analog gauges and lever controls made way more sense for actual dredging. Kinda made me a believer in the old stuff again.
