Switched from jetting every 3 months to biannual bucket inspections after a cutterhead seized up near Tampa last August

Used to think frequent jetting was the only way to keep sand from packing, but after that $12,000 repair bill I started pulling the ladder every 6 months and checking the suction mouth for buildup instead, and our downtime actually dropped by half anyone else had better luck with less aggressive maintenance?

Wait, you're telling me doing less work actually gave you better results? That's like saying skipping oil changes makes your truck last longer (which I'd love to believe, but my mechanic would laugh me out of the shop). I did the same thing after a sand clog tore up my impeller blades near Corpus Christi last spring, and now I just pop the lid every six months to scrape out the crud instead of hiring a jetting crew every quarter. My wallet definitely prefers the cheap beer I buy with the saved money, even if I get a little nervous around August when the grass clogs get thick.

What's stopping you @ivan522 from thinking the opposite is true, that doing a little more regular work upfront could save you from a blowout that costs triple? I'd rather spend the cash on cheap beer and risk a clog than shell out for a new impeller when a bit of scraping in July could avoid the whole mess.
