I finally switched from wire rope to chain on my anchor line

Always thought wire rope was the way to go for strength. Last month on a job in Galveston, the wire frayed on me after hitting some debris, cost me 4 hours of downtime. Swapped to a 3/4 inch chain and it's held up through some tough pulls without any issues. Anyone else made the switch and found it smoother?

Wait till that chain kinks up on you in a tight spot or picks up mud that ruins your windlass. Wire rope is lighter, handles better, and doesn't turn into a tangled mess when you're in a hurry.
