I finally realized my cutter head was spinning the wrong direction after 4 years on the job.
A mechanic in Baton Rouge watched me work for 5 minutes then asked if I ever wondered why my slurry lines kept clogging, and I felt like a total idiot. Has anyone else missed something this basic for that long?

Went back and re-read my machine's manual cover to cover.

Feel your pain man. Spent a whole year blaming bad materials before someone pointed out I was running a belt backwards. Fixed the direction and everything just worked right after that. Sometimes you get so locked into your routine you stop seeing the obvious stuff. That's why I try to grab a fresh set of eyes on a tough job now.

Oh come on, is it really that deep? Running a belt backwards for a year? I mean sure it happens but if you're doing the same thing over and over and getting bad results for 12 months straight, you gotta wonder if maybe you weren't paying attention. A fresh set of eyes helps sometimes, but let's be real, most problems are solved by just reading the manual or watching a quick YouTube video. Sometimes I think people make things way more complicated than they need to be.
