Did you end up with a pile of gravel where you wanted a deep pool? I once took a shortcut from a "local expert" on a creek project and wound up with a trench that looked more like a war zone than a swimming hole. My pre-dredge survey skipped out of laziness and my boat motor chewed up a stump I could have avoided. Now I always double check the basics even if it means looking like the cautious old lady on the water. Sometimes saving an hour costs you a whole weekend of repairs.
