Bought a fancy hydraulic filter for my dredge and it lasted 4 hours

Spent $180 on a high-end hydraulic filter from a marine supply place last month. It clogged up before I finished my first shift on the Missouri River. Anyone else had luck with the cheap ones from Tractor Supply instead?

My buddy swears by those Tractor Supply filters and I used to think he was just cheap. Then I tried a $40 one on my dredge after my fancy marine filter died in four hours. It's been running six months now with no issues so I'm fully converted.

$180 for four hours? That stings just reading it. @richard_ramirez has got me seriously thinking about switching. I mean, I've always been a "spend more, get better" kind of guy but not if it dies that fast. Might grab a cheap one from Tractor Supply this weekend and see if it holds up on my dredge.

$180 for four hours is brutal. I've been through that same learning curve with filters on my equipment at home. Richard's got the right idea with those Tractor Supply ones, they're built tough for the money. I grabbed one of their hydraulic filters for my tractor last year and it's still going strong through all kinds of muck and debris. Might as well give it a shot on your dredge, worst case you're out forty bucks instead of a hundred and eighty.
