Am I the only one who waits months for simple part approvals?
I run a small dredging operation, and getting parts cleared for use takes ages now. Last time, we needed a new pump seal, and it took six weeks for the supplier to get the paperwork right. That meant the whole dredge was down, costing us daily. It feels like every little thing has a new hoop to jump through. I get that rules are important, but the delays are killing small businesses. Is this just how it is now, or are there ways to speed it up? I'd love to hear if others have tips.

Thought it was just red tape until my gear sat idle for weeks.

That "six weeks for paperwork" bit hit home. My buddy's excavator sat because of a hydraulic fitting, and he finally just started calling the supplier's direct line every single morning. They got tired of him and pushed it through.

Six weeks for a pump seal? That's absolutely wild. I knew things were getting slower, but that's a whole new level of just sitting on your hands. It makes you wonder what they're actually doing all that time if a simple part needs that much checking. Milalopez has the right idea, being a constant nuisance seems to be the only language some of these offices understand anymore. The system is totally broken when the only fix is to annoy someone into doing their job.
