Tried using a bevel gauge on site instead of my usual protractor today

I was marking out a 22.5 degree angle on some steel framing for a handrail in this old building downtown, and my digital protractor battery died. Dug out my old bevel gauge from the bottom of my bag and honestly it worked way better for transferring the weird existing angles off the wall. Has anyone else found that the old school tools sometimes beat the fancy digital stuff for weird retrofit jobs?

My buddy tried that once and ended up cutting wrong twice.

My cousin did something similar trying to rewire a lamp, ended up causing a small fire in the garage. Took him three tries just to get the wires connected right without blowing a fuse. Some things are better left to the pros, you know.
