Picked a manual drafter over CAD for a quick side job last month

I had to choose between using my old drafting board and firing up AutoCAD for a small residential floor plan. Went with the board since it was just a rough sketch for a buddy's addition. Took me 2 hours instead of 30 minutes, but he liked the hand-drawn look better. Anyone else ever go old school for a simple project?

That tactile feel of the pencil on paper really helps you visualize the space better.

Read an article about how some architects still teach hand drafting because it makes you think differently about space and scale. You slow down with a pencil, catch mistakes before they happen, and theres something about erasing and redrawing that sticks in your head better than a ctrl+z. For quick jobs like that, hand drawing can actually save time if you're already comfortable with a scale ruler. Plus clients go nuts for anything that looks like an antique blueprint these days.
